My Story
In February 2024, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. What followed was a long and difficult road: eight rounds of chemotherapy, two surgeries—including a lumpectomy and the removal of 30 lymph nodes—30 rounds of radiation, and another surgery a year later to remove my ovaries.
I am incredibly grateful to be here, but I was surprised to discover that the effects of cancer treatment did not disappear when active treatment ended. I am still rebuilding my strength, learning how my body and even my brain work now, and figuring out what life looks like after breast cancer.
“Wearing pink” now represents real people, frightening days, difficult recoveries, and the hope that carries us forward.
I originally created this shirt to express my own connection to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I incorporated a nature-inspired design featuring red clover as a small nod to my Vermont heritage. But after watching several friends face breast cancer too, I realized this campaign was not only about me. This shirt could help raise awareness, support an important cause, and perhaps help someone else feel less alone.
Wear the Story. Carry the Hope.
The design brings together red clover, feathers, a dragonfly and botanical details around the words “In October We Wear Pink” and “Warrior.” Each element reflects connection, resilience and the strength found in nature and community.
